I love rewards programs that are simple to use and don’t require extra effort to reap the benefits. Earnify fits that bill perfectly.
Last year, I received an email announcing that Amazon Prime members who use Earnify at gas stations could save an extra five cents per gallon, bringing the total discount to 10 cents per gallon at BP, Amoco, or Amoco amp gas stations. Since we have plenty of BP stations nearby, this seemed like a great deal.
I also wanted to avoid getting a branded gas card, as I already have a Citi Costco Anywhere Visa, which earns 4% back at any gas station. With Earnify, I now save at the pump and earn 4% cash back on the total purchase from Citi. It’s an effortless way to stack savings.
Simple Math: How Much Do You Really Save?
Let’s break it down with a simple example:
- Assume the price of regular unleaded gas is $3.00 per gallon (or $2.99 9/10).
- I need to fill up 20 gallons.
- With Earnify’s discount, the price drops to $2.90 per gallon, making the total $58.00 to fill up my tank.
- My Citi Costco Anywhere Visa earns 4% cash back, which is $2.32.
- That brings my final cost down to $55.68.
Without any rewards, I would have paid $60.00. While saving $4.32 per fill-up may not seem huge, over the course of a year (weekly fill-ups), that adds up to nearly $225 in savings—just for using Earnify and my credit card together.
Earnify App & In-Store Rewards
I really like the Earnify app, which makes paying for fuel seamless.
- You can store your preferred payment method (like my Citi card) in the app.
- When you arrive at a station, simply enter the pump number (Earnify uses your location to confirm you’re at the right station).
- Your discount is applied before you even start pumping—no extra steps required.
In addition to fuel savings, Earnify offers in-store rewards. While they provide incentives for purchasing items at the station (e.g., earning 2 points for every $1 spent), you don’t need to buy anything extra, you earn rewards just from buying fuel.
The redemption system is straightforward:
- 200 points = $2
- 400 points = $4
- 600 points = $6
- 800 points = $8
While I typically avoid buying groceries at convenience stores due to higher prices, I treat Earnify rewards like coupons, letting me get $4 off items like milk, eggs, or soda, just for purchasing fuel.
Fuel is a necessity, and I’m always looking for ways to save. Earnify makes it easy and requires no extra hassle, just automatic savings at the pump and additional cash back from my credit card. If you’re already an Amazon Prime member and frequently fill up at BP or Amoco, it’s worth checking out. Why not save money on something you’re already buying?
